2018 Ohioana Book Festival Coloring Page Project

The 2018 Ohioana Book Festival will take place on April 14 at the Sheraton Columbus at Capitol Square.  Each year at this event, the Ohioana Library hosts a kids’ room full of fun activities, crafts, and readings by the festival authors and illustrators.

To support this year’s festival, Central and Southern Ohio SCBWI is sponsoring a kids’ coloring page activity. We hope all of our illustrators will participate in this exciting project!

Design a coloring page for children to color at the festival that promotes reading.

The final illustration must fit the dimensions of 8.5 x 11 inches. (These are the dimensions of a normal sheet of printer paper.)

You may create your illustration in pencil, pen, marker, ink, or digitally, but it MUST be in black and white only. (Like what you would see in a coloring book.)

Final art must be submitted as a high resolution (300 dpi) JPG.

The illustration should be kid-friendly, fun, and promote reading.

You may design your coloring sheet horizontally OR vertically.

Your design can include words, but this is not required. If you do choose to add words, please make sure they are easily legible and appropriate for all children pre-k through fifth grade.

You may add your name, email address, website, and/or social media accounts in the bottom right corner of your illustration. This information will also be on a sign we print for the craft table.

You can design as many coloring pages as you’d like. Be creative and have fun!

Due Date:

-Illustrations must be emailed as a high resolution JPG (300 dpi) to by April 5, 2018. No illustrations will be accepted after this date.

-Please include your name as you would like it to appear, website, and social media account(s) when you email us your final JPG. We will be printing this information on a sign for the craft table.

If you have any questions, please email Kathryn Powers or Becky Gehrisch at  This project is a great opportunity to promote early literacy, support a local literary organization, and get your art out into the community.
