Children's Book Writers
and Illustrators

About Our Region

Who We Are:

Central & Southern Ohio SCBWI serves 400+ children’s writers and illustrators ranging from beginners to multi-published, award-winning authors and illustrators. We write and illustrate fiction and non-fiction, magazine articles and stories, picture books through young adult novels, and everything in between.

Our programs and operations are coordinated entirely by volunteers. That means ALL of our events, communications, social media, and offerings are organized by dedicated members of our region. If you’d like to learn more about helping out, please visit our volunteer page here.

What We Offer Our Members:

*In light of COVID-19, we are currently holding a region-wide virtual meeting every month. These meetings cover topics of interest to writers and illustrators in all genres and age groups, often with guest speakers from the kidlit community. You’ll find this month’s meeting topic and registration page on the side menu of our website.

*Events/workshops several times a year on a variety of topics. Faculty includes published authors and illustrators, editors, agents, and art directors.

*A critique partner/group match up program. For more details, please email: ohiocensouthscbwi.critiques@gmail.com

*An active illustrator group with many opportunities for artists to show their work including gallery displays, contests, and rotating member-illustrated social media banners.

*Promotion of our region at local book fairs and festivals.
