Society of
Children's Book Writers
and Illustrators

About Our Region

Who we are:

400+ children’s writers and illustrators, ranging from beginners to multiply-published, award-winners. We write fiction and non-fiction, magazine articles and stories, picture books through young adult novels and everything in between.

What we offer our members:

*a choice of three monthly meetings– the first Tuesday of each month for Dayton area members at the Dayton Main Library downtown, the fourth Monday of each month for Cincinnati area members at the Sharonville Public Library, and the fourth Wednesday of each month for Columbus area members at the Upper Arlington Public Library. *All meetings are free and open to the public, although we encourage regular attendees to join SCBWI. [For more information on monthly meetings, see the tab at the right.]

*speakers– covering topics that are of interest to writers and illustrators in all genres and age groups

*events/workshops. (Last year we had an editor, an agent, and several authors and illustrators present.)

*critique partner/group match up program

*active illustrator group that meets several times per year in Columbus. We offer many opportunities for artists to show their work—Facebook banner, library displays, coloring projects through Ohioana, and via annual contests.

*promotion of our chapter at local book fairs and festivals
