Jacqui Lipton (LL.B., M.F.A., Ph.D.) writes academic and nonfiction books and articles about legal issues in the digital age, as well as fiction under the pen-name K.C. Maguire. She has taught at leading law schools in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, including the University of Houston, the University of Pittsburgh, Case Western Reserve University, the University of Florida, the University of Melbourne, the University of Nottingham, and Monash University. Her academic and professional work has focused on law in the digital age, with an emphasis on copyright, trademark, privacy, business and contract law. She is currently working on a "legal issues" handbook for authors. She holds an LL.B. from the University of Melbourne and LL.M./Ph.D. degrees in international/comparative intellectual property law from Cambridge University. She also holds an M.F.A. in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She frequently presents for SCBWI and other organizations on legal issues for authors and illustrators.
