On June 17, 2017, join author/illustrator Lindsay Ward for a workshop on writing and illustrating children's books. Lindsay will share the ins and outs of making a picture book from idea to publication, her process, how to balance your creative time, and the different relationships between words and illustrations for more insight on what makes a successful picture book in today's market. The workshop will include a mix of discussion and hands-on learning. All participants should bring a notebook/sketchbook and something to write and/or draw with.

Lindsay Ward Photo


Lindsay Ward has a BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University. Her most recent books include Brobarians (Two Lions, 2017), The Importance of Being 3 (Dial, 2016) and Rosco vs. the Baby (S&S, 2016). She is also the author and illustrator of Henry Finds His Word (Dial, 2015), When Blue Met Egg (Dial, 2012), and Please Bring Balloons (Dial, 2013), which was produced into a play by the New York City Children’s Theater in 2017. Her work has been reviewed in Kirkus Reviews, Publisher’s Weekly, The Plain Dealer, and the New York Times. Lindsay is also the owner of Foreword Press + Design, a custom online stationery shop ( and the founder of Critter Lit, a free critique service for children's book writers and illustrators ( She lives in Peninsula, Ohio with her husband, son, and dog.
